When the general contractor removed the old mantel, he noted that the fireplace was in bad shape. He called us in to evaluate the condition of the firebox. What we found was that the previous fireplace contractor had built the fireplace on a sheet of plywood instead of a concrete foundation. As you could imagine, we found it quite disturbing and recommended a complete rebuild of the firebox, hearth and foundation

Six Story Townhouse Upper west Side N.Y.C.
This building was a full gut renovation including 7 gas fireplaces and one boiler flue. All gas fireplaces and the boiler flue required new stainless steel liners along with a complete rebuild of all firebox and smoke chamber components.

When we arrived on scene the plumber had shut off the heat & hot water for both the restarant and residental apartements. After inspection we informed the owner that the chimney was in extremly bad condition. The flue liner was competly collapsed inside and was causing carbon monoxide to back up into the boiler room
