West 13th Street Townhouse, Manhattan
At this job site we completely restored three fireplaces and installed pvc pipe for a high efficiency boiler system. It also required a full rebuild of the rooftop chimneys, which were in very bad condition. New Smothwall liners with insulation for all three fireplaces. The roof top chimeys where in VERY POOR condition and needed to be removed three feet in the building. there were bricks missing below the roof line on the party wall side of the chimney, whick had started to blacken the headers of the roof.

Park Slope Brownstone
When the general contractor removed the old mantel, he noted that the fireplace was in bad shape. He called us in to evaluate the condition of the firebox. What we found was that the previous fireplace contractor had built the fireplace on a sheet of plywood instead of a concrete foundation. As you could imagine, we found it quite disturbing and recommended a complete rebuild of the firebox, hearth and foundation

When we arrived on scene the plumber had shut off the heat & hot water for both the restarant and residental apartements. After inspection we informed the owner that the chimney was in extremly bad condition. The flue liner was competly collapsed inside and was causing carbon monoxide to back up into the boiler room
